Can an electric scooter go off-road? What to know before you buy
Gravel, dirt roads and hills: what makes an electric scooter capable off-road, and which Inokim models are built for it.
Most city scooters struggle on gravel or steep dirt roads. A true off-road electric scooter needs the right tyres, suspension, brakes and power. Here's what to look for.
1. Tyres
Look for large pneumatic (air-filled) all-terrain tyres. The OXO models use 10" pneumatic all-terrain tyres that grip loose surfaces and soak up bumps.
2. Suspension
Front and rear suspension keeps the wheels on the ground. The OXO 2026 Carbon has adjustable front and rear hydraulic suspension.

3. Dual motors
Two motors mean power to both wheels — better traction and climbing. Both OXO models have twin 1000W motors.
4. Brakes
Hydraulic disc brakes give strong, controlled stopping on descents. Both OXO models have dual hydraulic disc brakes.
Ride safely
Always wear a helmet and protective gear, start slowly on new terrain, and respect private land and local rules. Off-road riding puts more stress on any scooter, so check tyres and brakes regularly.
